Alterations are defined as:
- The act of revising or altering
- The act of making something different
- An event that occurs when something passes from one state to another.
Masonry alterations are any type of changes or modifications to an existing masonry structure. Examples of these changes include additions to residential or commercial buildings; Features such as an updated front entry and removing/adding windows. Amongst alterations are infills, which are the act of removing and filling in existing openings that are no longer needed. Infills include but are not limited to window and door openings. Masonry Alterations are often times confused with masonry restorations, which are the act of restoring an existing masonry structure (without altering or changing the structure, simply restoring it back to its original form).
